Title: Tabs for iChat, finally possible
Post by: Civrock on March 22, 2006, 11:47:12 am
With the help of the following 'plugin', it's finally possible to chat with tabs in iChat. No more windows for each chat and a full monitor... + many other 'hidden' features simply activatable by a single click.

sweet, yet another fantastic feature left for individuals to add, which apple should have built in from square one!

From what I believe, that is that iChat is getting old. And Apple wants to make it as simple as possible for the newly established users. Coming from the PC world and so on, but hey, I  mainly believe it's an old app. And it's only updated when new 10.x comes out.

BFG is right, this is the 3rd similar app that I've seen that should have been developed by companies but instead is ported by individuals (Teamspeex, The XFire thingy, Chax)

Adium is very promising, if only apple would take them under their wing like they did with Audion to form iTunes.

Adium is open-source, you can say that the guys behind Audion got bought up :)
And they managed to get the guy behind Proteus, hes currently working on QA with ichat I believe.

But if, in theory took Adium under their wing, contributed code to it. It would simply outmatch any other IM app out there. But it might be AOL that says no. With their video and their own service.
