Ok Gameranger is down and I have heard rumors that it's down for a year due to the fact that Evill is in the hostpital  ??? I dunno if this is true. Please inform me if GR is really screwed or just down. :o

GR is now down again at 10:45 p.m. eastern U.S time. Does anyone have any idea what is going on with GR. Are they making a new GR or are they having problems with the old one??

Well, Im telling you what.  Right now, I am one Pissed Postal Worker.  Stupid Scott and his bullmalarkey.   ....what a little penis.  

The website and GR uses the same server so if the site is down GR is too and the vice versa.

This really sucks that GR is down. Yesterday, it was up for a short while but only 50 people were on it so you couldn't play anything because barely anyone was playing. I tell ya I can't stand
Scott. And now it looks like my bro is perma banned from GR too because a week ago he went on GR and after playing he signed off GR then like an hour later he went to go back on and it said his account is suspended for an indefinite amount of time. Scott is one screwy person, who thinks he is above us all because is so much of a computer geek that he created GR but yet he won't even answer some of our questions we ask him, right away you just get banned. What is with that? If you ask me, I can't wait till the full version of GameScouter comes out because to tell you the truth I am sick on Scott and his GR bullshit. >:(

GR is really being a pain. I was on last friday, May 18, 2001. It was still working. Then when I logged in 5 hours later, its broken!!!. I am getting mad not playing MP RS! >:(  :( ???

first of all, evill wouldn't shut down gr just because he left for e3... the gr website and utterer.com (both are hosted by the same server as gr) have both been down too, meaning it is probably a server problem

second, i see that evill gets shit on pretty bad in these forums... i know he can be an ass (i have been the recipient of a fair share of unjust bans), but u guys should remember he is provinfing gr to us as a free service

mb you guys should STFU..evill does gr on his own time and he gets very little money for the server etc from the banners...and none from you bitchy users...:P

I don't know about you guys, but I would be more than willing to pay a small fee for GameRanger if Scott would stop being himself.  I think it for the most part is a great service and would be well worth the money. :)

     Hey ACE. I am not a bum. And i am not a nerd. I may be 15 and a senoir in high school.. but i am not a NERD!!!! i play soccer 3 times a week for 2 hours on a travel team. I also play basketball and i run in track. I broke up with my g/f about 3 months ago and have been single sence then. I HAVE seen a women's mac. I'm betting that i have gone farther than you too. Water polo........that is the one gay sport. you can't even hit anybody or break a bone in it. And don't even try to say that soccer is gay because any sport where you can break a bone with only your body isn't gay! I'm not going to give anymore info about my "PERSONAL" life, but i am also rather wealthy. And i never do spen a lot of time on GR, and on a final thing..........GR isn't my crack. Women are. ;D

Finally... thank you Oties for that. I mean Ace, c'mon, all of us have lives, this is just a hobby of ours. We all do something else. For me, I play soccer three times a week, I also have stuff after school and I have golf. I have a lot of homework every day because I am in advanced classes so there is much more work. All of use have lives, you are just too busy critizing us, that you don't realize we do.

faus - i can guarentee u that u cant beat my ass in water polo... i played against the top two high school players in the nation and held my own... i have also played against some kick ass club swimmers (guys who go to nationals and olympic trials) and embarrassed them

oties - i never said u were a nerd, i saying the people that whine about losing gr for a few days are (then again, u r 15 and a senior in high school)... and before u call water polo a gay sport, i would suggest u try it, i have broken guys  bones before and u can hit/hurt/maim other players while stayin within the rules

Ok... water polo is only a endurance sport and that's all it is. Because you have to have endurance to swim and keep your self about the water. But don't say it's a man sport also, because that it is not. It's just a bunch of guys who are afraid to make enough contact that they might actually get hurt. I'v had a least two concussions from soccer and a couple broken bones. In soccer, it's mad easy to break someones legs or give them a concussion. So don't say how water polo is a "man" sport.

as much as i hate to agree with ace, water polo is not a gay sport. it might look a litle gay, but then, so does wrestling. it is just as "manly" as soccer. although... my dad told stories of people sharpening their toenails so they could cut their opponents speedo's off.... oh god. i just got this terrible mental image of ace in a speedo. i must to kill myself.

As much as I hate to take Ace's side...... I gotta say that Water Polo is a real sport.  If you haven't seen people get a broken bone, a dislocated shoulder (and we won't talk about what goes on under water... OUCH!)... then you haven't seen real players play.

I've played soccer, and it can be rough, no doubt about it, but I've also played rugby, and if there is a rougher, tougher sport, I'd like to *WATCH* it... (I'm way too old to play something rougher than rugby ;)) so believe me, water polo played for real is not just an endurance activity, it's tough.

ACE, enough of who you played against..... that's a stupid approach to the argument.  If they are even ranking individual high school players nationally now... (where), then it could just as easily be a poor year for water polo.... if nobody can see them play, it has no point.

Wrestling is not a gay sport, and I happen to be a wrestler so I would know. First, wrestling was the first sport ever to excist, but now it is just more well developed. Secondly, wrestling take a lot of physical endurance and quickness, because even though you are only on the mat for about 4 minutes, you feel like you were on it for an hour. Wrestling is tough because you have to know how to find you way out of things. So don't knock on wrestling because it's a cool sport, maybe it's not one of the best sports, but it's still cool.

Grifter-- I have no idea what is going on. I was able to get on this afternoon but then when I left and came back to get on three hours later I couldn't get on, and I still can't get on. But yet, I have talked to people who are on GR, and they said they got on perfectly fine. So what is with GR, why can only some of us get on and others can't? >:(

It's very weird....

I was on for an hour (when RS crashed) after the reboot.. nothing.

I was chatting with Matt and MPE on AIM while I was on GR and they said they were still getting the connection timed out.

The only other thing I noticed is there were never 100 people on GR (hovered between 90 and 99 people here).

This is just annoying... taken to the 10^th power.

Has anyone been able to hit the web site either?  I just get a connection failure there too.

ok, here is a quick rundown on gr's current state... recently, many isps have been updating their routers, so if ur router was updated and the gr server's wasnt (or vice versa) u couldnt connect to gr... by now, most all routers have been updated, so everyone should be able to get on now or very soon

Ace-- Oh thanks for the update. I guess my router is still not updated because I still can't get on.

That's fine and good, except that it doesn't really make much sense. ?Why would my ISP changing routers at some point have anything to do with intermittent connections. ?Matt, MPE, Oties, lots of us have gotten on, then lost connection, then get it back, only to lose it again. ?

Now, if you said that GR had lost some router bandwidth and could only handle x number of connections at a time.. that might have made sense. ?But ISP's changing routers shouldn't have any effect (unless they lock out the ports that GR uses, but then it wouldn't come and go, would it.

grifter - i hear what ur saying, that was puzzling me too... my only idea was that the isp's had to mess with the routers on more than one occasion (first install didnt work, minor fixes, etc.)

i am sure that it was a router prob... i talked to some reputable gr users (no thats not an oxymoron) including Steel_Rat who was at WWDC with evill

I'm just guessing here that either they are guessing or they are just trying to cast the blame on ISP's instead of GR.

Either way... it's just not how routers work (name servers on the other hand would be a great scape goat.....)

Off Again!!!

Ok... there is a pattern here...

I got back on about an hour after the last RS crash and series of "Connection Timed Out" errors from GR.  Was on for a bit, joined a game, crashed, and couldn't log back onto GR again.  I'm wondering... either I'm losing the connection, which is causing me to crash..... or when we leave GR is there now a time limit on how soon we can reconnect?  Again there were less then 100 people present the whole time I was on (and I am used to seeing around 200 for that number).

Does anyone notice these or other patterns in this mess?

I'm going to see how long it takes before I can log back on.... looking for these patterns.  (or maybe I watch too much X-files and see conspiracy behind every dark corner)

Guys GR must be still a little screwy. ?I was on last night and i had about 6 people IM me on AIM and ask me y they cant get on GR, but i was on the whole night. ?One thing ?happened earlier though, i was on then crashed then couldnt get back on. ?Then i came back an hour l8er and i could get on again, so something is messed up w/ GR still. ?=/  

And grifter, i do see the same patterns, its like GR is set to a limit of only 99 people at one time, and the same thing is happening w/ me, my RS crashes and GR shows some messed up screen so i have to restart  >:(  It's really strange

Well there are good things that come out of gr being down, for one...
1.) u can now catch up on those downloaded emulated snes games that u never play anymore.  
2.) Now's ur chance to try out different multiplayer games that dont use GR, ie. games on Battle.net, UT, Quake.  
3.) U don't have to put up with scott kevill, [i for one don't have a problem i like the dis chats we have, sure i've been banned in the passed, but i've got'n passed that, when i figured out how i could get newbies banned......*wink, wink *  Dr.Retarded.
5.) Have u ever cataloged ur dvd collection? Now's ur chance.
6.) Now's the perfect time to learn about that Html/Flash stuff u've been telling urself to learn for a while now. And i think it's time U Post'd that website of ur cat dressed in clothing.
8.) Or u could finish up the already exsisting Clan website u'r members have been telling u to finish. [looks away]
7.) U could slow things up a little and catch up on all those great books JN has been telling u about....i recomend the latest Clive Cussler book "Atlantis Found" [is he james bond? is he Jack ryan? is he Indiana Jones?  he is all three of these and his name is Dirk Pitt]
8.) If u're really ambitious now's ur chance to actually venture outside where computer light and 40watt bulbs don't power the world.
9.) Memorial weekend is comming soon, and the pools will be opening up again, now's ur chance to peel off that mossimo t-shirt[that u bought at target for 9 bucks] and reveal that eye blinding pale chest of urs to the ladies.
10..) and ten......make an mpeg capture of u jerking yourself off, and post it on the web with ur head cut off.....because u've always wanted to do it.

Well, got on to GR around 6pm EST tongit without any issues at all... crashed and was able to log right back on (change from nights before...).

Left about 7:30pm EST.  Got home around Midnight, now I can't get on again.

The only thing I noticed was there still was under 100 users logged on while I was on earlier today.  That's the only thing I've found consistent when I'm able to get on.

Matt and MPE weren't able to log on again.  I think it (or Scott) just likes to tease us.....

:( Well, i can't get on GR AGAIN.  Im willing to pay a small fee now if there was a friggin game service that didn't suck hairy donkey balls.  Macs need to get a REAL service... one that's professionally done, and if GR turns professional and reliable, that's great! But if it continues to suck, i think GS or some other service that comes in will become very popular.  i know im gonna get posts tellling me im an ass, and that there aren't enough macs to spread between 2 or more services, and to them i say: Macs are the computers that are the fastest growing in popularity with America.  New gamers are showing up.  If they don't like the unprofessional quality of GR, they will just go back to pc's and then the Mac gaming community will REALLY shrink.
