"Surprise! No FireWire 800 port. And no external SATA port."

Well, "Surprise!" To you Apple!  I'm not buying anything without FireWire 800!  Geez, it would take freaking forever to transfer my 500GB Hard Drives around as much as I do using FireWire 400 or USB 2.0.  Screw that shit.

All I can say is, they better include it when they produce the 17" model.

Considering most folk working with video and large files are using big HDs with FW800, unless apple is insane i can't imagine them not suplying a PB with FW800 and/or an externalSATA port

I think we aren't seeing it on this laptop because the motherboard apple are using dosn't support it... - perhaps the one intel are designing for apple specificly isn't done yet so they are using an 'off the shelf' one... so as soon as we get the full monty we'll get the features that should be in the 'probook'

Well, until they include FireWire 800, I'm officially renaming the new PowerBook the "MacBook Amateur".  The headlines could read "Buy the new MacBook Amateur...Amateur features for Amateur Pussies who don't need to actually do real work on their laptops!"  ;)

P.S. Seems my little 17" PowerBook G4 WITH FireWire 800 isn't so out-of-date and worthless afterall!  ;D

Well if you are that desperate get a damn express card for FW800 when they come out.
