Title: To the GameRanger "Vets"
Post by: Supernatural Pie on October 31, 2003, 03:55:39 am
Do you ever browse through these forums, and just start laughing at all the threads about cheating, flaming, etc?

Sure, back in the day we had Rapid bashing, (and still do  ;)  ) but now it's all, "You cheat! No, you cheat! No, he cheats! BAN BAN BAN HOMO HOMO HOMO BAN BAN BAN YOU'RE GAY NO YOU'RE GAY"

I just find it quite amusing (this amusement was sparked right after reading the thread about Fridge cheating).

Dance, Ghost Recon monkeys, dance!

one word,
Yes.
and its been a funny season so far.
Look at every locked thread on the first page of this forum that is a "problem."

Its great to see people try to back up claims they make about cheating, especially when they haven't shown any proof to support themselves.

It reminds me of the scene in monty python & the holy grail where they try to have the witch hung.

I haven't posted here in the forums for close to a year. However, I do miss the old rs days where practically everyone got along...except with rapid. Freakin GHR NOOOOOOBS! DIE  >:(

Geeeeeez,

I wish the admins could let a thread live a day at least before they tight-ass lock it--so what if there is a flame here or there that's life--that's free speech.  Sometimes a matter needs to be aired to get things constructively solved, even at the risk of idiotic posts like mine right now, lol!

Flame-wars can be fun AND educational AND diagnoostic AND therapeutic! ::)

PS-- I would like to see the stats of how many threads each Moderator has locked, lol.

Snipe, you have more of a sense of humor about it than I do.

Personally, I think it's pitiful. It's reached a point, where when you challenge someone to a GHR CB, you're basically challenging them to a pathedic forum war, and about 36 hours of bullshit. The playing is just extra.

Cheat tests, replays, even CB confirmations; all are signs of just what the GayRecon ladder has come to.

Back at Rogue Spear, when a problem with a CB came up, that would be what the whole forum was centered around for several days. You'd see some good arguments, tons of people would be involved, and the side who had the hard evidence on their side usually came out victorious.

Here in GayRecon, the problem is settled between the members of the given clans, and a moderator. Now, while many of you will say "isn't that how it should be?" I look at it from a different perspective: who has the ability to see through an issue clearly, the members of the clans involved, or bystanders who know the games just as well? This sort of argument puts a lot of preasure on the moderators. Whichever way they go, one group of people will hate them. They have far less support than they used to in the bigger arguments.

Now, onto my next problem with Ga-, err, "Ghost" Recon CB's; the game aspect. If it weren't enough that you have to go through all the rest of this bullshit each time you want to play, the CBs themselves suck. Clans are so concerned about winning, that, honorless as it may be, they'd rather sit on their sorry asses in an untraveled corner of the map with their noobish OICW/GL than actually pull their heads out of their asses and risk dying to actually find a bit enjoyment in these hour long wastes.

Draws: There is no excuse in hell for having a tie game in GHR because of time running out. You're playing 10 minute games. If you really don't have the balls to get off your ass and go kill your oponent during a 10 minute time span, then you should be persuing your future career as a young-sounding tenor.

"Life? What's that?" - If GHR players were honest, this would be a common quote from them. Let's take a look at the GHR ladders: The #1 clan, BTs, as done 110 CBs. 110 CBs in 40 days from a 12 member clan. Hey guys, lives? Girls? Sports? You know, OUTSIDE! No, that doesn't mean unplugging your iBook and sitting in the garage with your airport and the door open - that means closing it up and going for a run, or a date.

i agree with snipe, and somewhat with flies. but besides that, i do remember the days before ghost recon being much more fun. back when clans and cbs were taken a little less critically.

tis true, tis so true. Given up playing much, lack of time etc etc, and just sick of the crap that goes on all the time. It simply takes the fun out of playing

Title: Re:To the GameRanger "Vets"
Post by: .::|N|SOC on October 31, 2003, 05:07:04 pm
typhy- i agree completely. you crack me up.

life...yeah...i was thinking that I don't play as much as I used to, so I must be really "living"

...but then I realized that I'm just toiling away at work or watching the kids, which might be more 'real' but it's a lot less fun

...truth is, 'life' is whatever you are doing so long as you still have a pulse, and although the arguing and temper-tantrums have their ups and downs, they aren't any more or less annoying than traffic, telemarketers, bad clients, changing diapers, or any number of other 'real' annoyances we put up with all day.

yeah, it was more fun when the arguments were less involved.
the upside of flame wars and making the arguments more personal was that it was easier to laugh them off or not feel involved. these glitch and cheat discussions draw people in because they don't want bad precedents set which may come back to haunt future cb's. or something.

let's see...toss fridge in the pond, if he sinks and drowns, he's innocent. if he floats, he's a witch...burn himmmmmmmmm! jk.

and i realize i'm not a 'vet' in the proper sense, but I do have a memory lane of my own, just not as long....

Geeeeeez,
I wish the admins could let a thread live a day at least before they tight-ass lock it

Sturm we let the first Fridge accusation thread live to see what would come of it and to no surprise it did absolutely no good. So when the others came up I simply stated that no cheat accusation threads concerning Fridge will remain open without proof.

Roger that HAZ!  I meant in general, not specifically the fridge threads.  I had no desire to post in those or to start any flames anywhere--I merely love reading the give-and-take, back-and forth reparte and banter in some of these threads, lol.

It took me 5 minutes to write that - tops. Longest I've ever spent writing a post is 35 minutes ( 3 posts, but all the same topic ); a huge, 3 parter, in an issue back in March, 2002.

SOC, if your "life" is GameRanger and GayRecon, then you seriously need to reconsider, and if this is the best you can do; might I suggest some plastic surgery?

I used to be the first one to step up and say "who gives a shit if they have no life? What's that change within this community?"

I've learned something sense then, though: who's word should I put more stock in? The person who's life is GR, and only cares about winning, or the guy who logs in for 20 minutes or so each day, and plays to have fun? Who is more likely to lie?

Also, who will have better social skills? The kid who sits infront of their machine for 9 hours a day, or the guy who actually goes out and does things?

Oh btw, for Onwig: This post took me :looks at timer:, 94 seconds to write.

LOL,

I mainly play this game to kill time and take a break when I am at work.  I can speak for a majority of my clan to say the same aabout them because I actually talk to them and know them.  We actually have pretty full lives; married, engaged, dating, getting paid while playing this game, just living life and using this game to have some extra fun.

But maybe I guess Typhy has no real clue since he's probably a teen, wasting his time reading these forums, playing games, and not having a date on the weekend.  But, maybe I am just making the same stupid ass assumptions that he has just made about all of us.

Hey, drop me a note sometime.  Maybe I can clue you in on our actual lives.  Shit, as for sports like you mention, I make a pretty good sum betting on football and watching it too.

Now I guess I could too reminisce about games that used to be great and keep whining about how they became outdated and how playing them used to be the best. There was a time when I could whoop the shit out of anyone in Tecmo Bowl, but then Super Tecmo bowl came out.  New rules, features, even some shit that made the game less fun.  I could keep on going, but then I would sound like some moron lingering on about a game that nobody plays anymore.  I guess you could say I let go, moved on, and played new games.  If I would of just kept on bitching then I would never have discovered new things.

Now that is the true sad fact.  BTW, if anything here sounds familiar it was meant by pure accident.  I was only talking about Tecmo Football.

Let's see..back in the old school days of RS me and pal formed Dr (which i believe it now the oldest running clan on gr) and didnt even care about these forums to post anything about cheating or w/e.  I think that the scare of cheats where spred around and its just stuck :( hence the cheat test lol.  I remember hearing after i left RS for "gayrecon" that ejo and a few other guys would use cheats ... but i never knew about it, and if i did, i wouldent care.  Now for sure it's different, you know why Typhy?  Cause ghr is alot more about team work, you work as a team over netfone setting up "plays" and tactics to over come the enemy.  Even working off line to come up with tactic, carfully picking new members that would help the team and come up with their oun new ideas and tactics.  Sure its a slower game, but it's worth it in the end.  RS = team-start-run-shoot-(hope for head shot)-die-wait-lil chat-team-start-....and its the same thing over and over.  Sorry but RS just blows chunks vs ghr, having said that i will agree that the amount of bitching on these forums is just sick.

nuff said...

I'm not lacking in knowledge of GHR or it's CBs. Under an alias, I've done 7 GR CBs ( 5 wins, 2 losses ).

GHR is not nearly as much about teamwork as you might like to think. A large ammount of the communication over NF is just broadcasting the location of your oponent. Like RS, most of the teamwork is "on the fly".

You want to take a look at a teamwork based game: AA and RTCW.

Just a little clarification, Dr is not the longest running clan on GR. Far from it. *DAMN, SiX, SEALs and KoS.

Also, contrary to what dumbasses like Rapid might like to think, Ejo never cheated. Jo was an above average player on his mac - not great, but highly capable. Tell me this - how do you think you'd improve in a game as fast paced as RS if you went from 10 FPS to 200 FPS? It's that frame jump which made Jo so good. If I play a ton of AA on my PB for a few days at 20-30 FPS, then switch to my PC at 100+ FPS, I own.

Quote
RS = team-start-run-shoot-(hope for head shot)-die-wait-lil chat-team-start-

And GHR is Chat - Bitch - Boot the crasher - start - camp - shoot - die - wait 10 minutes for campers - chat - bitch - boot the crasher - start - camp - shoot - die - wait 10 minutes for campers, and so on.

Now, on to to the sorry ass piece of bullshit known as Fah's post.

"Using this game for some extra fun", yeah, extra fun that you take as life - 110 CBs? <sarcasm> Just sounds like "fun on the side" to me. </sarcasm>

Quote
But maybe I guess Typhy has no real clue since he's probably a teen, wasting his time reading these forums, playing games, and not having a date on the weekend.

I guess I do have trouble relating to how you can manage to have  a life, yet do 110 CBs in a 40 day period. Perhaps you can inform me?

Little information about myself: I'm 15, I'm a Sophmore at JDHS ( Juneau Douglas High School ), I live on Douglas Island, about 5 miles outside of Juneau, Alaska. I've played soccer for 11 years. I travel to Europe for 6 weeks each summer to go to soccer camps there, and usually play in a tourney. I run a 15:41 3 mile ( my best ), and a 5:02 mile; I run both Crosscountry and Track and Field. I played Football until I was 13, quit because of injury - I was a Wide Reciever and a Defensive Back. I ski raced from the time I was 10 until I was 12, when I quit racing in favor of free skiing. I use 181CM Salomon 1080s, I've skied sense I was 6. Saturday and Sunday, I ski from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM every day during the winter.  I've had the same girlfriend sense May, 2003. Her name is Jessica, she's a one of the best defenders in the state ( soccer ).

I also play both Paintball and Airsoft; I use an M4A1 with an MP5K as a secondary, and an Autoocker (paintball).

Computer wise: I've been playing Rogue Spear in this community sense May, 2001. Before that I played Bolo and Chesswords sense 1998, when GR was first released. I've been posting in these forums sense December, 2001. I use my computer a lot this time of year. Skiing season hasn't started yet, soccer is over. It gets dark at about 4:00, so there's a limited ammount you can do outside.

Why'd I tell you all this stuff? Because I think that before you make an illinformed personal attack on someone, you should try and learn a little bit about it so that you can at least eliminate one negative quality in the formentioned attack.

Oh btw, if you want to talk about living in the past:

What the fuck are you newbies still doing playing Ghost Recon? Hello people, AA is out, as is UT 2003!

Maybe they just haven't taught sarcasm yet or you like to purposefully not read everything written to fit into context in which you wish.

"But, maybe I am just making the same stupid ass assumptions that he has just made about all of us."

lol, personal attacks, OH NO.  I wasn't making one, I was making a point.  Thanks for clarifying it also.  That is why I stated you would have to know us first to state that we need to have lives.  You silly fool, you just repeated the same goddamn shit I wrote.

I would write about everything I do too, but what's the goddamn point.  It's just a game for fun and I have nothing to prove to anyone on a personal level.  The only thing I come to do here is to prove that maybe me and my team are a little better at it than others.  I just don't see how you get your rocks off trying to bash it, even if you CBed more than twice.  I hate fucking golf, but I don't go everyday to a golf course telling the people they are a bunch of idiots and that throwing rocks was a much better sport that is older.  That's your opinion.

As for my post being bullshit, well, you can take that as a free lesson in life.  You show your intelligence in your rebuttal .  Who cares how many CBs we have done.  Maybe we are all experts at time management or have super fairies in our asses.  It's just funny how it bothers you.  If you want, I can send you video of me everyday and all the things I do.  Maybe that would make you that much more comfortable with us Noobs having normal lives.  I wouldn't want you to lose too much sleep over us.

bah, why bicker. I will just see another reply with tons of highlights of my post and we can argue until 3 eyes is common.  Who really cares.

typhy is 15 years old?

too funny.

and soccer = life? is that your point?

dude, grow up, get a real job, pay your own bills, cook your own food, wash your own clothes, find a wife (or boyfriend, w/e), have kids (or adopt), try to raise them, start your own business, hire employees, pay taxes....

...and then come talk to me.

Fah is my hero.

Oh, no, wait.

Fah's donkey is my hero.

SOC, you got a foreigon object other than your head up your ass?

Right. I'm 15, I really need to get a job when I already get 1-2k each year from my PFD, and work during the summer. I sure need to drop out of high school and get a full time job.

I sure need to pay all my own bills - 15, shit man, the house should be mine, I should be paying for everything. I mean, parents and family don't really have any value, do they?

Wash my own clothes? I do was my own clothes. . .

I've got a great girlfriend. Something would be a bit, err, "odd" if I were married at 15.

I'm sure I should have employees at age 15. I mean, shit, now days, what kind of 15 year old doesn't have employees?

I pay income taxes just like everyone else ( PFD isn't taxed, but the money from my summer job(s) is ).

Ok, I'm here to talk to you. Actually, mostly, I'm just here to tell you to pull your delusional head out of your ass.

Here in Juneau, we had an 18 year old get elected to School Board while he was still a senior. He commented that whenever someone disagreed with him, they'd call him neive, but then say he lacked the knowledge to understand the explaination that they'd give, so they shouldn't bother giving it.

I'd draw a direct comparison between that and this. You simply say I don't have the knowledge? Knowledge for what? I probably know more about computers than you, much more about GameRanger and the history of it's gamers. . . What more is there when it comes to an online life?

To the moderaters:  This thread serves no purpose--This thread is taking away from Typhy's "Study time."  Cut it off... ;)

"I'd draw a direct comparison between that and this. You simply say I don't have the knowledge? Knowledge for what? I probably know more about computers than you, much more about GameRanger and the history of it's gamers. . . What more is there when it comes to an online life?" I suck at quoting on the forums, sorry Typhy. But anyways.
I thought we were talking about a real life here. Now, I'm not out to bust your balls, but come on. Anyhoo, I remember back in the day when you/AK would play like 50 CBs or so in a season. Well around 40 I think. That was a pretty big number back then, since most clans would only play about 10-15 or so. Sure, 110 is a lot more than 40, but give them a break. They're a big clan, and not all of them are in every single CB.

"I've got a great girlfriend. Something would be a bit, err, "odd" if I were married at 15."

Especially since she's your cousin. Kidding of course lol. I just wanted to say that. And, about paying income tax. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought you didn't have to pay income tax until you're 18 unless you make x amount of money a year. Well, you pay it, but they give it back to you atthe end of the year. Must be a nice summer job.

Typhy

your original point was that people played too much online, and should get real lives.

my point is you have no clue what real life is like.

I don't expect you to have kids, employees, or anything at age 15.

But when you do, then you will begin to understand 'real' life. At least my 'real' life. So don't tell me what to do or how to live you snot-nosed punk.

ps: i have skid-marks older than you.

*sighs*

I only stated my rebuttal due to the fact that me and my clan were dragged into this and personally attacked.  I don't come here to name names, point fingers and start nonsense.  I just reply when spoken too.  I really don't care how freaking old you are, but just make sense if you want to state an opinion and have people respect it.  Not only that, but don't lash out at me when I question it.

I don't think there is any hard feelings between me and anyone here, nor do I actually give a shit if there is.  Also, don't bring up and compare shit when you don't know the person you are referencing it too.  I could say I'm the dirtiest smelling, non ass cleaning fellow on GR, but how do I know you don't clean your ass less than I do and are dirtier.

Keep it clean and keep it about yourself.  Thats another lesson in life that I won't charge anyone for.

Let the discussion die.

I'll give it to you though.  As far as I'm concerned, you are the dirtiest smelling, non-ass cleaning fellow I've ever heard of.  Congrats on the title!  =D

No there's something I can relate to =D  You almost sound like you belong in MP Fahq2.

Do you ever browse through these forums, and just start laughing at all the threads about cheating, flaming, etc?

Sure, back in the day we had Rapid bashing, (and still do  ;)  )

Heh, you would bash on me in the forums, while I would bash on you guys in the game ;)  (Too bad none of that "bashing" would help you kill me in the actual game ;D l0l)

l0l!  Man.  To hear the good ol forums at it still, brings back memories of back in the day.  Just remember, these people are close-minded, stubborn, immature, argumentive forum whores that get off on arguing, or "bashing" on others.  But when it comes down to playing the game, often get owned.  Oh yeah, and if they do happen to own yah, you won't hear the end of it, even if you have owned them a million times.  You'll never hear the end of that "one time" ;D  LOL!

When I saw that lying and honesty is nothing that's carried around here, is when I gave up trying to rationalize with these people.  Their idea of rationalizing, is "teaming up" on you when you "own" them at their own game, or making websites about you in hope to gain the upper hand.   Too bad they still sit there being the idiots, wasting their life away "posting in these forums". l0l!  Arguing here, is like adding coals to a fire.  The fire never goes out...

To the ones that got caught up arguing here with the nonsense, do like the old saying: "Let the fools be fools amongst the fools.  They're bound to learn lessons amongst their mistakes"

Good day -Rapid 8)

((Ok, be ready for some "anti-rapid/ak" fools to act the fool now))
