why: programmed like an automated frog, laggy, ruckelig, sounds suck totally, maps are only half that much fun like in r6. all in all its SHIT and also the smaller figures size annoys me bad!
i also tried it on my companys G4 here and its unbelieveable: it lags and slows around same as on my mac at home!

statement: RS go back to hell.

come on RS isnt that bad... well maybe it is... I tried to play on GR and it was laggy .. but then i also realized that most of the RS games are pinged over 100 so that sucks first off and i havent found a game that has a ping under 100... but i play RS on a LAN game... that kicks ass cause theres little to no lag:o... try getting a LAN Game started and it will change your minds as far as for GR well that sucks anyway... to many 56kers playing RS anyways....>:(boo to them.. get cable!!  ;)

On the one hand the game is really annoying especially if you compare framerates to other games, e.g. I can run Unreal Tournament with 800*600 and high details 16 bit without problems and hardly no slowdowns. That 's really great. I could also run it on 1024*768 but than my poor iMac screen has only 60Hz and that is bad for my eyes. But on the other hand it is still are great game. The single player, coop, mutliplayer boundkeys and so on..... I really like it especially the many 3rd party maps weapon mods and more....  It makes huge fun! After playing RS two month I really wanted to give it up but then I did the following setup: all graphic detail off except the sky, textures to low and of course 640*480 but the most important thing to play RS acceptable is the RAM. Since I gave RS over 250MB RAM it runs and runs and runs. Only mods using many polys like Nishi's NMM mod or the DTD skins can cause sometimes out of memory crashes. I know not everyone of you has additional 265MB RAM in his system but go out and get it. In Austria 256 MB 133 RAM only cost 80 US Dollars at the moment  ;D

Give it a try and discover great fun - MacSoft that doesn't mean you don't have to release a patch. I would put Vampire on hold and release the patch and not finishing Vampire and than work on the patch. Don't forget the customer should be the king.

What will be the system requirements for Vampire?
a nasa-computer ? (maybe that one built into ISS Space station - uhm ya i guess they just got one in my mac store ...)

macsoft - i also wonder where damn multiplayer for baldurs gate (mac) is.

i hate it when i read on the package of a game: multiplayer available via ... and then there is exactly nothing. usualy i "let pay" company who trick me that gay in warezing their next game.

RS is a great game but not on MAC ( really bad portation ) ON PC IT RUNS MORE FAST THEN ON A MAC and even on an old PC (K6-2 450 comparable to a celleron 350 - 400 )  :o

Yes I agree on the PC it runs thousand times better than on a mac. My friend David plays it on a Celeron 300 with a TNT 1 16MB Video RAM very well. The framerate is almost twice as high as mine  :( >:(
And when I hear that Veritable run the OldTrain map(this map is the worst running map of all) with 35 frames on the sides and 18 frames in the middle with lots of tangos I can only laugh. I have tested this map with 20 tangos on a G4 MP 500 Mhz with a Radeon and the framerate was around 1 frame/sec. Awful grrrrrr. One of the coolest games crappy ported. Thanks MacSoft  :-[

Wow I must be bored....I'm reading the RS section of the forum when I don't even have the game.  But you can put me into the club too  8)

I had thought hard about getting the game but after downloading the demo (blech!  it has all the lag, small figures, bad sounds, etc. you talked about) I have decided not to buy the full version.  Multiplayer is a little better but not much.  I'm sticking to R6...I guess I'm member number 3 ;D

I'm going to have to agree with you guys on this one...
I have been playing RS for a while, and I really have to ask myself, why? lol It fuckin sucks on my computer of which is not to shabby, with cable conn. I have yet to see it on a PC, but who fuckin cares about that. The game sounds like shit, lags like shit, looks like shit, and drives me fuckin mad I tell you. So chalk one up for ol' Skip I'm in... Maybe someone could tell me why so many people are playing this shit, the game even out numbers quake 3 and unreal every day on GR not to mention the 2 or 3 R6 games. wtf, Imagine how many  freaking R6 games there could be if these arsehole's never put the game out (I only wish). I am forced to play the fucking game sometimes because there is never enough R6 games or none at all. oh well enough of my whinning..boycott the fucking thing....lol  >:(

You can add my name to the list.  While I have nothing directly against RS, I was playing a game yesterday with 20 ping and I still was as useless as a newbie with a 56k connect using disc load.

Count me in!  I'm on 333 mhz iMac and if it can't run smooth on that...I'll NEVER PLAY IT! (Cause I'll have this shit for computer for about 3 more years) HAHAHAHAHAHAHA RS SUCKS!!!

I have a G3 300 with 192 megs of RAM and a first generation Rage 128. I can run RS so smoothly w/o VM that I have no complaints about it.. except that there is no sound. I'll have to buy more RAM for that.. :)

Playing w/o sound is quite hard as you have no alerts to if somebody is firing at you until you see bullets hitting the wall around you.. or hitting you. You can't hear your teammates die or them firing either... I can't wait for more RAM.. :)

Why aren't you using Virtual Memory?  And why isnt' 192 megs of ram enough?  What do you have RS set to consume all of that????

And, sigh....I think I will probably end up getting rogue spear anyway because there are so many mods out for it....that way I could review some of 'em.

Maybe I should get it for my PC....it's a little clunky, but if it runs so much better on PCs then hey, why not?

Virtual Memory crashes RS in addition to slowing it down majorly.

If I set RS's memory requirements down to a reasonable level.. it quits to the Finder when the action gets hot because it thinks it doesn't have enough free memory..

I have 390 MB Ram and it still does not run smooth with sound Wrath, and i have the same machine as u have! ???

MACSOFT: U Bastards! On the package of my original bought (mac software prices are the HELL!!!) was FAT written (half an year ago): Playable in multiplayer via Gameranger!!! I dont even buy NON multiplayer games. so this was a 100% betray cuz - i had to wait half an year or longer to get that MP option via GR and what the fuck!!!??? U damn bitches just try to promote Baldurs Gate 2+3 among the mac-scene. Therefore u released such a "wrack" patch that i cant even describe! It just doesnt work! Its sux. Its 100% mac soft dumbassness!

I dont say i will warez from now. But i will think about "buying" a bitchy macsoft game from hard earned money more than twice in future.

  Well ya dont have to add me to the club but gp ahead I really dont MIND !   I love RS its the best game ive ever played.... BUT !!!!  IT RUNS LIKE F*C***G SHIT !  im so [pissed off rigght now i feel like going right down to macsoft and squeezing sombody's neck !   Every game I have is fater on my Mac then my buddy's PC...... oooo but not RS  I have to deal with stupid crashes and lame networking !!  Hey im not a programmer but JEEZ  !!   Macsoft told me after two emails   1 on normal (no response)   and 1 on the patch that after explaining a couple few crashes i get at crazy times that  I should only be using this set of extensions....The problem you are experiencing may be an extension conflict. You may want
to reate a new extension set in the Extensions Manager under Control Panels
loading only necessary extensions. In this set turn off all unneccessary
extensions, only leaving;

1. Apple CDROM (or equivilant)
2. Sound Manager
3. Any Quicktime related extension
4. Any input sprockets
5. Any ATI extensions (if applicable)

Once you've stripped down the extensions, reboot the computer and try
playing the game again.          
   What a freaking joke !  if it cant run with at least the base set  WTF !!   are they doing the lazy bastards!!
       Not to mention I've been sitting here for about 2 h now try to use those extensions (or equvilent)  and now im finding I cant do shit  so i have to add just a couple more just to get the G4 to run right   DAMN   now  the mac is crashing with minimal extensions  .... R6 is indeed showing its age, my friend.  It needed an update.  But even if you DON'T happen to like Rogue Spear, must you complain about it?  Just don't play it (not like you could anyway) but wake up.  It's not that bad a game.  It runs fine with me.  Never had a problem with it.  And the mods?  Oh don't even get me started.  I have to defend RS, I'm sorry...I started playing Rainbow Six a few years ago...yea...I had fun times (like assulting the airport and equiping my team with shotguns) and whathaveyou...then I was shocked when RS came out.  It ran like a bitch on my friends older comp...but as soon as we installed it on a faster one, it became one of my favorite games of all time.  (Mostly) True to life SpecOps tactics and all.  I admit...I'm sort of a SF guy myself.  One day hoping to enter one of those units...or atleast get a job with the local SWAT team.  ANYWAY...don't complain about the game.  Complain about everything else....not my sweet Rogue Spear.  

I really like RogueSpear, but it sucks that we cannot MOD it very well, and also that we cannot make Skins! also, i have a problem with the bottom bar...i changed the res to 800x600 and the bottom bar is tiny! i can barely see it!!! help!

RS still runs not sa smooth as it could ran, but hell, i don't like so i don't play it ...

and Wrath i have to support you, if someone wants to modify old post, why not? May be one day someone will have the solution to get RS run as fast as R6 on a performa  ;D

Well, now that this thread has been pulled from the grave I'd like to add that I've been moved from disliking RS to hating it worse than about anything else.  It is generally darker and the good resolution makes it hard to see.  The system that they iplemented to equalize ping just makes things frustrating as you can neither use you ping as an advantage nor prefire successfully.  The maps are too large for them to be fun in multiplayer.  The reticle knock is extremely annoying, too.  Basically, I like the simplicity of R6 as it is nicely srteamlined for quick and fun play.  Now lets hope than any future games take more from R6 than from RS.

Bondo, RS ownz cuz it has more guns (GOOD GUNS) and better images, and WAY better mod's. But yeah, the res makes it lag, even on a nice G4 w/ flatpannel and cable....

I won't agree about guns because almost none of them allow my beloved 3 shot, also all the special weopons suck as they keep me from using my hbs well.  I do have to agree about mod part though, I wish R6 moding worked that well so that there would be more R6 mods for me to review.

When I first bought the game I only had 128 mb of RAM and it crashed and it was buggy and it crashed some more!  Then (as dumb as I was) I put on some virtual RAM.  Then it was twice as bad.  Now that I have the extra RAM (256mb PC100 which I got for $35 Canadian) it runs without a hitch in multiplayer.  In single player there are some bugs still but I don't play it so I don't care.  When it's all over I say PUT ME IN THE CLUB!  Aspyr seriously needs to start porting good fps games to the mac because Macsoft just SUCKS!  Out of the five mac games I have ported by those 2 companies (RS, R6, Unreal Tournament, Escape From Monkey Island and the Sims) the Aspyr ones run perfectly well.  That's a lot more than I can say for Macsoft. >:(   Anyway when it comes down to it I'd like to e the next member.

Well, if you hate rogue spear that much, that means you'll proabably hate erm...Raven Shield...I agree that sometimes rogue spear lags a lot and that Macsoft shouldn't do any more converisons...maybe ubi soft or red storm should...?

   lmao....all these people complaining about RS....when i had my old comp...yes OLD comp it was a little choppy...but now i play RS with graphics high...and everything... ;D because i got a new power mac. 1ghz , 1.5 gb of ram, and duel ATI radeon cards...at 64 ram each  ;D sigh...now every one will hate me....o well  ;D

Lol, this "RS Community" started as an R6 community, and all of the people who joined the club like R6.  Just because they took 800 steps backwards in RS...

Anyway, I have a 400MHz comp with plenty of Ram and a great Graphic card, but RS still runs like shit...not because of hardware but because the game was so poorly done it has conflicts with software bits that it shouldn't.  My RS ran like shit offline so the online part had nothing to do with my connection.

I can only say thank god that MacSoft isn't handling the GR port.

Are you speaking of MAC? Sorry, I've never tested RS or R6 on a mac computer. I have a windows 98, so, I have nothing more to say. :P

And everyone comes into the game and starts complaining about lag! I simply perfer the smarter players aka, the RS players, I guess that the smart ones all updated to RS...

As to R6 players being dumber...sure the n00bs are, in the old days though players were 8 times smarter than the average RS player.
