Good news! Hopefully it will turn out to be true instead of an error on Apple's part, or something of similar nature.

The G5 powerbook will happen someday, it's just a question of how long it takes them to figure out how to make it work.

Just why the hell would they raise the bar above their Powermacs? Only in the high 15" and 17" will you see that.

The html code on apple's site is now:

"apple_g4_powerbook"

So, either it was a typo, and has been fixed, or...

Apple is trying to cover their tracks.

Um yes they do.. like that typo for instance. - either that or one of the web team thinking it would be funny to see if anyone noticed - if you look at the code its not a 'serious' mistake - just one of the above, prank or typo.

Apple doesn't make mistakes!

what about that superdrive in the mac mini, wich was labeled 8x on the webiste whereas it was in fact a 4x ?

There seems to be some confusion about that super drive. Apple has flip flopped between drive speeds. Its hard to tell where it's settling. Why must we all be so pessimistic? I  vote for WWDC still though.

Im sure eventually there will be a G5 powerbook, they could have been saying that it is just about 2 years from now and making all of you drool.

This brings you back to G4 Powerbook speculation from G3 doesn't it?

Someone has told me on the powerbook page of Apple's website showed a little glitch in the source code. It reads this:

<!--BEGIN AVENUE A-->
<IMG HEIGHT="1" WIDTH="1" SRC="http://switch.atdmt.com/action/apple_g5_powerbook">
<!--END AVENUE A-->

Well, I had to check it out for myself! I came up with some bad news, it reads this:

<!--BEGIN AVENUE A-->
<img height="1" width="1" alt="" src="http://switch.atdmt.com/action/apple_g4_powerbook">
<!--END AVENUE A-->

I am very confused? How is this possible? Only one way to find out, go to the source! So I went.  Now remember this is a pixil GIF that is used. And guess what, it checks out! The rumor is to be the advertising company, aQuantive, based in Seattle, is a marketing and advertising company Apple uses for the products.

To read more in depth, The Register, www.theregister.co.uk/2005/01/27/apple_site_powerbook_g5/ (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/01/27/apple_site_powerbook_g5/) has put an article up. They claim the GIF is a counter.  I am amazed!  Since the GIF is only 1 pixil, it is very difficult to actually see the source of it.

Now the question is, could it be a slip up that aQuantive did? Is it a rumor, and they wanted to create attention to gain hits? Who knows, but we should all agree upon one thing, the Powerbook G5 might actually exist in the future.

 Blitz, moved your post into this thread, which was started a while back about the same thing.

If it was done on purpose it's bad for business. Apple's Market-share in notebook computers in undesirably (power wise) high. Turning of next Rev G4 buyers is not a good thing for business.
