Title: Hosting with an Airport...
Post by: (SiX)Redbaron on January 12, 2006, 02:38:35 am
Hey folks,

I've looked through the forums and it seems each time someone helps a user who has a question about airport hosting they've either done it on GameRanger or through private messages.

I'd love it if someone could help me figure this out!
Step by step instructions would be greatly appreciated!!
I'd like to be able to host Athena Sword, Raven Shield, and the Halo Demo.

Most especially the Halo Demo at the moment.

I'll be watching this post!!
Please help me stop banging my head against the wall. ::wall::
Thats probably the only time I'll ever get to use that icon. :P

Thanks guys,
Red.

hey, if you want to get on gameranger I'll be glad to send you screenshots of everything you need to change and add.  Explaining everything step by step can get a little lengthy... plus I already have the screenshots on hand.

Just wait for the next update of GameRanger which is due very soon... port forwarding won't be necessary anymore. :)

Two great replies!

Krush - I've added you to my buddylist, I'd be ecstatic if you could hook me up.
Then we can start killing each other  ::sniper::  :)

And Civic - thats awesome I can't wait for that!! God bless Scott Kevill.

Cheers,
Red.

Airport Admin Utility/Network - Step 2 (just make sure it matches up with your ip and such)
Airport Admin Utility/Port Forwarding - Step 3 (fill these in with the desired port numbers and the IP you chose to use in step 1)

System Prefs./Network - This is actually step one, you have to make your IP static (technically you don't have to but it works so much better with hosting)

System Prefs./Sharing/Firwewall - Step 4 (go to new and other.  the name doesn't matter, just place your ip in the correct field along with a name of your choice.  multiple IPs can be seperated by commas)

Just fill in the places where I added port numbers with whatever port numbers you want... www.gameranger.com/help/ports

Edit: alright.... they were all working, but it looks as though the three most important ones are already not working.

I would type all the steps out but I find it very difficult to do that and it usually takes me forever.  I'll be on from around 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. US Central tonight working on an essay so I'll be sure to stay on gameranger just in case.
