I've gone through 6 power adapters ( over $400 ). In 3 years. For me, they always break right where they plug into the computer.

My mom went through dozens (ok, not quite... but a LOT) of power supplies for her old powerbook. Finally, after a couple years of killing adapters, someone at Apple told her:

"You're supposed to plug the cable into your computer and THEN plug it into the power supply."

 :o

Doing it in the reverse order will kill your power cable. Definitely one of the most counter-intuitive things ever to come out of Apple.

I can't say I ever did have any problems with them, though I preferred the original Ti's UFO adapters.

My powerbook is over 2 years old now and never had a problem with the power supply no matter how I plug it in. My parents cats even chew on the damn thing from time to time. Still working.

Yes but how are the cats Voods? ;)

I never knew that about the cable though - more often than not i have it plugged in - and then just connect it to the laptop when im home etc to charge it up... perhaps not good practice
