This most recent gameranger update is the greatest thing I have seen in a long time.  It is really appreciated Evill.

OK, heres the bad news.  Included is a link to the updater for 1.0.3.  When I run it, the updater claims that my version is unable to be updated, and suggests I already have the update.  Well, I don't. Why does this occur, how can I update my program?

Voodoo and I already tried changing permissions, so that isn't the answer.  I am pleased to accept all suggestions, just so long as they are on topic. Wink

Maybe your GR version is already updated.  I know my version updated automatically when I logged on GR.

I know many of you out there are having a problem updating your version of Ghost Recon to 1.0.3.  First off, I highly recommend reinstalling the game from the CD, or .dmg file.  If you all remember, there were a few updates to GhR: (Panther 10.3 users please read notice at the bottom of this message.)

?   1.0.1
?   1.0.2b (beta)
?   1.0.2   (final)

If you ever updated to the beta version, you will probably notice that you have 2 GhR app files.  Here's the problem.  Both versions are 1.0.2, but one is the beta.  Update 1.0.3 will not update the beta version, but it won't tell you that, it will just tell you it is already updated.  Bull shit of course.  You have to install the 1.0.3 update with the final 1.0.2 final.  Some of you might be confused as to which one is which, and some of you have the app file in another folder and don't know it.  Like I suggested before, reinstall the game, and then use these links at the bottom for installing the updates.  Good luck to all.  By the way... this will most likely solve the teamspeak issues in the game.  We figured it out in .::|N|, so I'm sure it will work for everyone else.

I recommend downloading one file at a time because they are confusing in label.  Download the first file, install it, download 2nd file, install, and then 3rd file.  If you download all at once, they are all labeled GhostReconUpdate, not by their version number.  Keep these .sit files for future reference if needed.

?  This file will update your original from 1.0 to 1.0.1 : CLICK HERE!
(If you are using a browser other than Internet Explorer, you might have difficulties with the link I have provided and it will time out without downloading the desired file.  Try to use this ftp link provided below, or use another browser for downloading these files.)

?  This file will update 1.0.1 to the final version of 1.0.2 : CLICK HERE!

(Currently, I do not know of any other site that has this download.  If this link does not work, try looking for it through a search engine.)

Good luck to all.  I hope I have helped out with the confusion!

A test was run at approximately 10:20pm EST = 3:20am GMT.  12 premium members, including Evill at one point, tested the In-Game-Voice-Communication.  All-Speak and Team-Speak options work perfectly fine in Random and Non-Random games.  Everything worked completely fine, except for Evill's connection being dropped.  Other than that, it works! Thanks Evill!
____________________________________________________________________________________________
*For all Panther OSX 10.3 users*
In-Game-Voice-Communication is not supported under 10.3 Panther at this time.  As most of you know, there were two updates for the current In-Game-Voice-Communication to work properly: An automatic GameRanger update, and a link to download version 1.0.3 for Ghost Recon.  I'm sure Evill is aware of this problem, and it will cease to be an issue once the retail version of Panther 10.3 is available to the public.

He means the update to Ghost Recon.

Noto found out that if you updated to the 1.0.2b (the beta version) a while back, then the 1.0.3 version won't work.  You need to update to the 1.0.2 latest release, that's on Aspyr's site.

Hope that helps.

Ghost Recon/Desert Siege
for Mac OS, version 1.0.3

Mac OS Specific Notes
Added support for GameRanger voice communication team channels.
Fixed a problem where re-hosting a multiplayer game would fail.
Clicking "Back" from the Join Waiting screen now returns directly to GameRanger.
Unwanted outside users are now prevented from breaking into (IP joining) GameRanger games.
GameRanger can now force full-screen mode to prevent cheaters modifying game files after the game has been launched.

That's the only thing I see in my read me file for 1.0.3.  If you use the 'ol Cmd+I option to get info for a file, you can pick the installer, the actually GhR app, and the Read Me file, and they all say 1.0.3.  I wasn't aware of a 1.0.4 update and I have not seen such a beast.  I'm sure a 1.0.4 update, or something like it, will rear it's head once Panther is out on the market.

Well, whenever a game is hosted through GameRanger, there is a default password set to the game.  You were able to see this password if you joined and then backed out to the multiplayer screen in Ghost Recon, but the recent 1.0.3 update keeps this password hidden by taking you back out to the GameRanger room.  If you were to try to IP join a game, you would have to have this hidden password, which you have no clue of since you will never see it.  The password consists of 8-10 (?) letters and would be nearly impossible to "guess" or "hack".  I suppose if you have a ton of time on your hands, and the room stays open long enough, you might figure out the password.  It's pretty simple from a programming standpoint, and it goes a long way to keeping unwanted guests from clogging up your servers.

Nope, that was the old method.

I haven't activated the new method yet, but it doesn't use passwords. GameRanger GhR games and manual GhR games are like completely different net games with the new method. They won't even see each other.

Oh BTW... Evill can you make the mouse button assignable for the voice chat. I have tried the logitech driver to get it to bind keys to the mouse and it makes me loose function in a few buttons.

I've got a HUGE problem for the moment...

Everytime I play ghost recon, my game crashes after a few games and then my router freezes and resets...

This has been happening since the new update came out.
Can anyone help me pls, because I'm not able to cb like this.

I've got a Belkin router and in OS 9 everything seemed to work correctly, but in OS X it keeps crashing  Sad (I've got 10.2.8 but updated one)

I think I'm gonna do a clean install of ghost recon, I hope it works...
But any suggestions are welcome!

I have been using 2 buttons on my Logitech and they are working fine.

I setup two buttons for page up, page down keys and use them for voice chat I have used them fine.

As for the update it is 1.0.3 but the PC code is version 1.4. If you go to your GhR icon in the finder you will see it says 1.0.3.

Ok, I did a clean install of my ghost recon, updated one by one...

And its not working, my router still freezes and I lose my connection!
I noticed when I had nf on, when the router froze my netfone gave an error, telling me that my OS resetted the network. What does this mean?

I also opened the specific ports on my router that ghost recon asks for.

I never had a problem with my router before, but now with the new update I have one...

(I have another problem, does anyone know how to set up a scroll wheel in OS 9 in ghost recon? I have a wireless microsoft mouse and it works fine in OS 9, but I lose my scroll wheel in ghost recon... So I?m not able to zoom in and out with the wheel, I have to use the buttons. Sad  )  Sad  Huh  Angry

That makes it almost impossible for a buddy that plays on a PC to join your hosted GR game!  Why must you do this? or have I missunderstood this?

The key words that Scott uses are "I haven't activated the method yet", so I take it as it's still the same as it was 2 weeks ago.  All your PC buddy needs to do is go to Multiplayer in the main menu, select Internet tab, and then enter your IP address.  Your game might not be shown since GhR sometimes does not show you this.  Your friend can click on 'Get Info' or simply join your game.  This is what you need to do as a host.  When you are hosting, select Edit Server which is above the chat window.  Then select the Server tab.  You need to make sure that there is nothing in your password field.  If there is something there, erase it.  Then your buddy will be able to join.

I hope that clears things up.
